1909 T204 Ramly Tobacco Walter Johnson
Starting Bid - $5,000, Sold For - $19,200
Graded EX 5 by PSA. Presented is an exceptional high-grade example of Hall of Famer Walter Johnson (Washington Senators) from the T204 Ramly set, one of the most popular of all 1910-era tobacco issues. This is one of tobacco-card collecting's great classics. One of Walter Johnson's rarest cards, it is also universally recognized as the key card from the T204 Ramly Tobacco set. Ramlys, which are highly prized among collectors for their distinctive style and rarity, are among the most condition-sensitive sets in existence, with fragile gold borders easily susceptible to chipping. Only eight examples grade higher by PSA to date! Crisp and clean, both front and back, with a striking portrait image and virtually perfect centering. Near-flawless gold borders, with even wear to the four corners (slightly more in the top and bottom right corners). This is a very attractive example, offered in a much higher grade than normally encountered, of the key card from one of tobacco-card collecting's most highly respected and beautifully designed sets. This card would be a significant highlight in any world-class T204 Ramly, Walter Johnson, or classic-card collection.
