1909 T204 Ramly Tobacco Ed Cicotte SGC EX/NM+ 82 - 1 of 1 - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,500

Graded EX/NM+ 82 by SGC (submitted by REA). This is the ONLY example graded at this level by SGC with none higher! Presented is an exceptional high-grade example of Eddie Cicotte (misspelled "Cicolte" on the card) from the prized T204 Ramly series, one of the premier tobacco-card issues of the era. Cicotte, shown as a member of the Boston Red Sox, is perhaps most well known as a member of the "Black Sox" a decade after the issuance of this card. The Ramly series is universally recognized as one of the most desirable of all the tobacco-card issues, appreciated by collectors both for its rarity and distinctive style. The card is very well centered, with light, even touches to the corners (visible only under close inspection) and flawless gold borders. Clean and crisp, both front and back, with a boldly printed reverse. This card originally appeared as lot #137 in REA's Spring 2014 auction where it realized $2,963. It has been consigned directly from the buyer at that auction. This is a very attractive and high-grade example of one of the key non-Hall of Famers from this beautiful and extremely condition-sensitive set. SOLD FOR $4,500
