1911 T3 Turkey Red Collection (10) Including Four Hall of Famers

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $2,160

Extremely attractive collection of ten different 1911 Turkey Red cabinet cards, including four Hall of Famers, each with brilliant colors and crisp images. Purchased by our consignor many years ago in the days prior to professional grading, a few cards show evidence of alteration (noted below) but still have tremendous visual appeal. Turkey Reds, which were issued only by mail as premiums in exchange for coupons, are considerably rarer than most other classic 1910-era tobacco cards. This collection consists of the following: #19 Joss (HOF, SGC "Authentic" due to color added in the corners, otherwise Vg+), 47 Chance (HOF, Vg+), 78 Baker (HOF, Vg+, ad back), 92 (Vg), 94 (pencil on back, otherwise Vg-Ex, ad back), 98 (color added in the corners, otherwise Vg-EX), 103 (Vg+, ad back), 110 (Vg+), 111 (slight trim, otherwise Gd due to two spots of paperloss on reverse, ad back), and 125 Walsh (HOF, color added left border, otherwise Vg). T3s are big cards; due to their large size they tend to be more subject to corner wear and creases than smaller cards. This collection represents an outstanding opportunity to acquire ten cards, including four Hall of Famers, from this classic tobacco-card set, considered by many to be the most beautiful set ever produced. Total: 10 cards. SOLD FOR $2,160
