1911 D310 Pacific Coast Biscuit Buck Weaver SGC EX 60 - Highest Graded!
Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $6,000
Graded EX 60 by SGC. Highest-graded example (one of three at this level) and one of only seven examples ever graded by SGC. Extremely rare and highly desirable card from the 1911 D310 Pacific Coast Biscuit series featuring future “Black Sox” member Buck Weaver during his minor-league playing days with San Francisco. Extremely attractive card of Weaver in full uniform leaning to his right making a catch. Due to their method of issue (one card per box) and large size (2.5 x 4.25 inches), 1911 D310 Pacific Coast Biscuit cards are usually found in far lower grade. This is a tremendous high-grade example! Crisp and clean, both front and back, with a strong image, flawless surface, four square corners, and centering slightly to the top. Entirely clean reverse, which features a complete checklist of all seventy-two subjects, by team, depicted in the set. An "Aldon Candy Co." stamp is present at the bottom (designated as "Stamped Back" by SGC). These cards were issued by Pacific Coast Biscuit, but a number of cards featuring smaller candy company overprints have been discovered, suggesting that the cards were also made available to smaller retailers as promotional tools. The 72-card 1911 D310 Pacific Coast Biscuit set is one of the rarest of all Pacific Coast League issues and one of the rarest of all 1910-era card issues. This is an extremely attractive high-grade example of the key card from this rare minor-league issue. SOLD FOR $6,000
