1914-1915 Fred Jacklitsch Type-Card Collection (3): T216 Kotton, T216 Mino, and E106 American Caramel
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,080
Matched trio of very scarce 1910-era sample cards, each depicting catcher Fred Jacklitsch of the Baltimore Terrapins of the Federal League. All three cards are graded and encapsulated by SGC. 1) 1914 T216 Kotton Cigarettes: POOR 10 due to a small punchhole in the center of the card, otherwise Gd/Vg. 2) 1914 T216 Mino Cigarettes: GOOD 30. Highest-graded example. 3) 1915 E106 American Caramel: GOOD 30. Each card features Jacklitsch in the same catching pose set against a brilliant multicolor background and presents with strong colors and bold advertisements on the reverse. Each of these cards is from a very scarce and desirable set. The T216 set was produced by the People's Tobacco Co. of New Orleans and was regionally issued only in the Louisiana area. Cards from this set feature advertising from three People's Tobacco Co. brands: Kotton, Mino, and Virginia Extra. All are rare; Mino may be the rarest of the three advertising backs. The E106 American Caramel set was issued several years after most other caramel cards, and shares designs with several other closely related candy issues (Croft's Candy, Nadja Caramels, Dockman & Sons, etc.) from the same era. E106 American Caramel Company cards are considerably rarer than most traditional "E" cards. This impressive trio of three Fred Jacklitsch cards from three very rare sets would make an outstanding addition to any prewar or sample-card collection. Total: 3 cards. SOLD FOR $1,080
