1976 Topps Football Unopened Cello Box (24 Packs)
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,600
Complete original unopened cello box of 1976 Topps Football. The box houses twenty-four packs with each pack containing eighteen cards, for a total of 432 cards. The 1976 Topps set includes rookie cards of Walter Payton, Jack Lambert, Randy White, and Ed "Too Tall" Jones. While it is impossible to provide guarantees with reference to grading of unopened material, there is, of course, the very real possibility that within this box are Mint cards of these rookies. All the other stars of the day are also included. Two packs feature Hall of Famers on top (Carl Eller and Charlie Joiner). The packs are in Nr/Mt-Mt condition. The box has survived in outstanding condition, with only a small tear on the interior flap and minimal shelf wear otherwise. This box has been carefully saved by our consignor for decades after he received it from his uncle, a dentist in practice for many years near the Topps factory in Duryea, Pennsylvania, who (according to family lore) was sometimes paid for his services in cards!
