This extremely diverse collection of sports periodicals and photos spans many decades and includes baseball programs, baseball yearbooks, college football programs, magazines, guides, and a number of original Floyd Patterson news photos. Baseball Programs (6). Five New York Yankees programs (1952, 1953, 1955, 1956, and 1957) and one New York Giants (1956). Four of the programs are scored. Vg-Ex overall. All of the photos (approximately 9 x 11 inches) relate to Patterson's heavyweight title bout against Hurricane Jackson on July 29, 1957, which was Patterson's first title defense. Four of the photos capture fight action, one pictures the weigh in, and three picture Patterson visiting Jackson in the hospital the next day. All feature the original paper news caption on the reverse. Vg overall, with many displaying editorial markings on the front. Miscellaneous Sports Publications (17). Includes a May 1, 1939 issue of LIFE magazine with Joe DiMaggio on the cover (Gd), a 1955 Pittsburgh Steelers press guide (Ex), two Official Baseball Guides (1957 and 1958; Vg-Ex), and two Baseball Registers (1952 and 1957 Gd-Vg), each published by The Sporting News, and two 1955 Seagram's Sports Almanacs (Gd-Vg). The items in this lot are part of the deaccessioned property of a prominent northeast museum which has selected Robert Edward Auctions to handle the sale of donated sportscards and memorabilia in an effort to fund purchases more in line with the mission and goals of the museum. SOLD FOR $240
