1950s Topps and Bowman Nonsport Set Collection (21 sets, 1,972 cards)

Extremely substantial and very carefully assembled collection comprised of twenty-one different complete or near-complete classic Topps and Bowman nonsport sets dating from the 1950s and totaling 1,972 cards. Overall, this is an extremely attractive collection, with many of these sets presenting in almost "pack fresh" condition and many of the lesser-graded cards downgraded solely due to centering or light corner wear. This collection is comprised of the following: 1) 1950-1952 Topps “Freedom’s War” Complete Set (203) Plus 114 duplicates: 15% Ex-Mt, 70% Vg-Ex to Ex, and 15% Vg (with a few lesser). The tank cards (#97-103) are all die-cut variations and grade Vg to Vg-Ex. Included in the 114 duplicates are eighty-five gray backs and two tank diecuts. 2) 1950 Bowman "Wild Man" (23 cards): Ten Vg and thirteen Pr to Gd. 3) 1953 Bowman "Antique Autos" (42/48): 34% Vg-Ex to Ex and 66% Pr to Vg. Missing the following six cards for completion: #26, 35, 41, 44, 47, and 48. 4) 1953 Topps "Fighting Marines" Near-Complete Set (79/96): 63% Vg-Ex to Ex-Mt and 37% Pr to Vg. Missing the following seventeen cards for completion: #19, 23, 26, 39, 44, 46, 59, 62, 63, 65, 67, 69, 71, 72, 74, 91, and 96. 5) 1953 Topps "Who-z-at Star" Complete Set (80): Overall Ex to Nr/Mt, with a few Vg-Ex. 6) 1953 Topps "Wings" Complete Set (200): Overall Ex to Nr/Mt, with a few Vg-Ex. 7) 1954 Bowman “Power For Peace” Complete Set (96): 17% Ex-Mt and 83% Vg-Ex to Ex (including a few Vg). 8) 1954 Bowman "US Navy Victories" Complete Set (48): 85% Ex to Nr/Mt and 15% Vg-Ex. All blue backs. Also included are twenty-two duplicates, all with black backs. 9) 1956 "Adventure Gum" Complete Set minus one card (99/100): Overall Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt or better condition. Missing only #86 Schmeling. Includes stars from many different sports, including boxing. 10) 1956 Topps “Davy Crockett” (Green) complete set (80): 31% Vg-Ex to Ex and 69% Pr to Vg. 11) 1956 Topps “Davy Crockett” (Orange) complete set (80): 75% Ex to Nr/Mt (averaging Ex-Mt) and 25% Vg-Ex. 12) 1956 Topps "Elvis Presley " Complete Set (66): 20% Ex-Mt and 80% Vg-Ex to Ex. 13) 1956 Topps "Jets" Second Series Complete Set (120): Overall Ex to Nr/Mt (averaging Ex-Mt). 14) 1956 Topps "Round-Up" Complete Set (80): Overall Ex to Ex-Mt with some Nr/Mt. 15) 1957 Topps "Goofy Series Post Cards Complete Set (60): 15% Ex-Mt and 85% Vg-Ex to Ex. 16) 1957 Topps "Planes" Near-Complete Set (90/120): 60% Ex to Nr/Mt and 40% Pr to Vg. All blue backs. Missing the following thirty cards for completion: #6, 7, 10-13, 16, 18, 21-23, 27, 29, 32, 34, 35, 37, 40, 42, 44, 49, 50, 54, 59, 60, 65, 87, 92, 94, and 112. 17) 1958 Topps "TV Westerns" Complete Set (71): Overall Ex to Nr/Mt (averaging Ex-Mt), with nine Nr/Mt-Mt. 18) 1958 Topps "Zorro" Complete Set (88): 81% Ex to Ex-Mt (with a few better), and 19% Vg-Ex (with a few Vg). 19) 1959 Topps "Fabian" Complete Set (55): 35% Nr/Mt or better and 65% Ex-Mt. 20) 1959 Topps "Funny Valentines" Near-Complete Set (62/66): 40% Ex to Nr/Mt (with a few better) and 60% Pr to Vg. Missing the following four cards for completion: #21, 58, 59, and 64. Also included are twenty-eight duplicates from the "A" series. 21) 1959 Fleer "Three Stooges" Near-Complete Set (86/96): 79% Ex to Ex-Mt (with a few Nr/Mt) and 21% Pr to Vg. Missing the following ten cards for completion: #1, 11, 13, 15, 58, 60, 62, 67, 90, and 92. Sixty-seven cards are gray-back variations. This is an incredibly substantial assembly, truly a collection unto itself, featuring many of the most popular nonsport sets of the era. Total: 21 sets, 1,972 cards.
