1950 Topps "Bring 'Em Back Alive" Original Card Artwork Pair

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,200

Presented are two original watercolor artworks (3 x 3-7/8 inches) used to produce cards #27 and 61 from the 1950 Topps "Bring 'Em Back Alive" card set. This adventure series was based on Frank Buck, the world's greatest hunter, and his fascinating stories of his encounters with the challenges of the jungle. These artworks were offered as part of the legendary Topps auction, which occurred in 1989, and the artwork for card #27 has the "1989 Topps Auction" stamp on the reverse. Both artworks are extremely detailed, with brilliant colors and present in spectacular Near Mint condition (normal production-related remnants are on the reverse of each artwork, along with small pencil notations in the bottom border on front). Exceptional and rare original artworks from one of the first card sets ever issued by Topps. An example of the issued card #61 accompanies. Total: 2 artworks and 1 card.

The items in this lot are part of the deaccessioned property of a prominent northeast museum which has selected Robert Edward Auctions to handle the sale of donated sportscards and memorabilia in an effort to fund purchases more in line with the mission and goals of the museum.
