1933 R73 Goudey Indian Gum Near-Complete Set (208/216) Plus 26 Variations

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $6,000

Presented is a near-complete set of 1933 R73 Goudey Indian Gum cards, missing only eight cards for completion (#110, 131, 137, 138, 146, 152, 172, and 175). Also included are twenty-six variations (each relating to the series size listed on the card reverse). Goudey Indian Gum is one of the most popular and difficult to complete of all the 1930s gum-card issues. Its outstanding color, detailed artwork, and popular subject matter, all contribute to making this set one of nonsport collecting's all-time classics. Advanced collectors are well aware that Indian Gum cards are far more difficult to collect in high grade than baseball cards of the era, in part because they are rarer. Condition is 22% Ex to Ex-Mt, 32% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 46% lesser (many of which present as Vg to Vg-Ex but are downgraded due to pencil writing on reverse). This is an attractive and consistent near-complete set of one of the most popular, substantial, and desirable of all 1930s gum-card sets. Total: 234 cards (near-complete set of 208 plus 26 variations). SOLD FOR $6,000
