1910 E125 American Caramel Die-cut Chief Bender and Larry Doyle
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $720
Pair of E125 American Caramel series cards, featuring Larry Doyle and Hall of Famer Chief Bender respectively, each encapsulated "Authentic" by SGC. The offered cards of Bender and Doyle are each the ONLY examples ever graded by SGC (at any level)! These are obviously extremely rare subjects in the E125 set. E125s have always been held in the highest esteem by advanced collectors both for their extreme rarity as well as for their very striking and unique design. E125s are extremely fragile in nature, and the flaps at the base of E125s, which allow them to stand, are easily broken. 1) Larry Doyle: Outstanding presentation, with scattered creasing (resulting in a tear along Doyle's leg) and the bottom left flap missing. Complete New York Giants checklist on the reverse. 2) Chief Bender: A small piece of Bender's left hand and the bottom left flap missing. Scattered wrinkles are visible on the card front along with creasing in the head and along the arm and small areas of surface wear at the base. Complete Philadelphia Athletics checklist on the reverse. Despite the various technical flaws, each of the cards displays well and is notable as the ONLY example of the respective player ever graded by SGC from one of the rarest and most condition-sensitive of all caramel-card issues. Total: 2 cards. SOLD FOR $720
