1888 N224 Kinney Military PSA NM 7 Collection (4) - Three Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $540

Presented is a superb ultra high-grade collection of four cards from the 1888 N224 Kinney Military tobacco series, each graded and encapsulated NM 7 by PSA. Three of these four cards are the highest-graded examples recorded on the PSA Population Report (a single PSA NM-MT 8 exists for Cingalese Chief, Island of Ceylon). The Kinney Military series is considered in many ways to be the nonsport-card equivalent in significance and intrigue to the N172 Old Judge or T206 baseball-card sets for their eras. Issued with Kinney's tobacco, these cards feature magnificent full-color illustrations of men dressed in military uniforms of various nations from a variety of time periods. These four colorful tobacco cards are bright and crisp and have managed to avoid common flaws that tend to plague nineteenth-century cards and often cause them to grade very modestly, including paper loss, glue residue, and writing on the reverse. This collection consists of the following: Cingalese Chief, Island of Ceylon (1 of 1); Cross Bowman, France, 15th Century (1 of 1); Malay - Warrior (1 of 2); and Warrior, Coast of Guinea (1 of 1). This is a exceptionally attractive, remarkable ultra high-grade quartet of cards in unparalleled condition from this classic nineteenth-century nonsport tobacco-card set, which would be worthy additions to any world-class nonsport-card collection. Total: 4 cards. SOLD FOR $540
