1946 The Three Stooges Monkey Businessmen One-Sheet Linen-Backed Movie Poster

Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $3,600

One-sheet movie poster issued for the 1946 Three Stooges short Monkey Businessmen. The plot of this film involves the boys as inept electricians who eventually seek relaxation in a rest home run by a crooked doctor. Three Stooges one-sheets dating from the team's "golden age" (1934-1947; those featuring Curly as part of the trio) are not only the most desirable of all paper from their films, but also the rarest. Prior to this extraordinary offering by REA (which is being conducted over a number of auctions), we have seen fewer than twenty different-titled Three Stooges one-sheets from this early era offered at public auction in the past fifteen years. To put that number in proper perspective, it should be noted that the Stooges starred in ninety-seven shorts during that fourteen-year period. The linen-backed poster (27 x 41 inches) has benefitted from standard touchups along the fold lines, as well as repairs to a few tiny interior tears. Excellent to Mint in appearance.
