1943 The Three Stooges I Can Hardly Wait One-Sheet Linen-Backed Movie Poster
Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $3,000
One-sheet movie poster issued for the 1943 Three Stooges short I Can Hardly Wait. The plot of this film, their seventy-third for Columbia, involved Moe and Larry trying to relieve the pain of Curly's toothache, which, as one might guess, did not go well for Curly. Three Stooges one-sheets dating from the team's "golden age" (1934-1947; those featuring Curly as part of the trio) are not only the most desirable of all paper from their films, but also the rarest. Prior to this extraordinary offering by REA (which is being conducted over a number of auctions), we have seen fewer than twenty different-titled Three Stooges one-sheets from this early era offered at public auction in the past fifteen years. To put that number in proper perspective, it should be noted that the Stooges starred in ninety-seven shorts during that fourteen-year period. The poster (27 x 41.5 inches) is linen-backed and has benefitted from restoration, including to a small area of Larry's face. Excellent in appearance.
