1955 Tarantula Complete Lobby-Card Set
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $960
Complete set of eight lobby cards (14 x 11 inches) from the 1955 Universal Pictures release Tarantula. The 1950s were Hollywood's golden age of atomic science gone bad, the result of which was a nonstop onslaught of giant insects, arachnids, and other assorted phylum arriving in theaters on a weekly basis. In this entry, a Mexican red tarantula is the subject of an experiment involving an atomic isotope used to create a super food nutrient, which, of course, did not bode well for those living in the surrounding countryside. The title card displays a number of staple holes within the top border of the main image and is in Very Good to Excellent condition. The remainder of the cards display a number of minor flaws consistent with their age and former use (nearly all of which affect the border areas), including, but not limited to, tack/staple holes and minor tears/repairs. Conditions range from Vg to Ex, averaging Vg-Ex. Total: 8 lobby cards. SOLD FOR $960
