1954-1955 Topps Hockey #8 Gordie Howe SGC NM/MT 88
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,900
Graded NM/MT 88 by SGC (submitted by REA and from an original-owner collection!). Only four examples grade higher out of 101 cards evaluated by SGC to date! Extraordinary ultra high-grade example of Detroit Red Wings Hall of Famer Gordie Howe from the landmark 1954-1955 Topps Hockey series, the first hockey set issued by Topps. The flush-to-the-bottom-border design of the 1954-1955 Topps Hockey set makes this issue particularly susceptible to edge and corner wear so finding high-grade examples is extremely difficult. Bright, crisp, and clean, the offered example is entirely deserving of its assigned grade, with brilliant colors, outstanding centering, four strong corners, and virtually flawless edges. Clean reverse. This is a tremendous high-grade example of one of Gordie Howe's most classic cards from this extremely popular hockey-card set. The equivalent SMR value in the assigned grade is $3,000. SOLD FOR $3,900
