1948 Bowman Basketball Five-Cent Wrapper

Outstanding original five-cent wax wrapper from the 1948 Bowman basketball issue. The 1948 Bowman basketball series is both extremely rare and particularly significant as it was the first set ever issued devoted exclusively to basketball. The George Mikan card in this set is widely recognized as the most sought-after and valuable of all basketball cards. This 1948 issue was the only basketball set Bowman ever produced. The wax wrapper features a repeating design of a basketball going into a net with "Basketball Bubble Gum" printed in blue and "5 Picture Cards Inside" printed in orange. Ingredients are printed along the left edge, and company copyright information is printed along the right edge. Flattened to dimensions of 3-1/4 x 5-7/8 inches, the wrapper displays normal fold lines and is in otherwise Excellent condition. Professionally framed and matted in a perfectly matched orange mat and blue frame to total dimensions of 5.75 x 8.25 inches. A tremendous wrapper rarity and an ideal companion to any complete 1948 Bowman basketball set. SOLD FOR $600
