1965 Topps Football Complete Set Including Namath Rookie (176)

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,320

Complete set of 1965 Topps Football, one of the most popular and classic of all football-card sets, highlighted by Joe Namath's rookie card. The 1965 Topps Football set is packed with Hall of Famers, rookies and extremely tough-to-find short prints. 45% Ex (including a few better), 37% Vg-Ex, and 18% Vg (including three lesser). Many cards appear far better than their technically accurate grades as gentle corner wear or hard-to-see wrinkles or creases are responsible for the downgrades. The set presents with a remarkable degree of consistency in terms of condition. Keys: #35 Kemp SP (Ex), 46 Brown RC (Ex), 69 Blanda SP (Vg-Ex), 87 Checklist SP (Vg), 99 Dawson SP (Vg+), 122 Namath RC (presents as Vg, tape and album residue on reverse), 133 Biletnikoff RC (Vg-Ex+), 155 Alworth (Vg-Ex), and 176 Checklist SP (marked, otherwise Gd/Vg). The oversized design of the 1965 Topps Football set makes this issue particularly susceptible to damage, and makes the assembly of high-quality sets all the more difficult. This is a very attractive medium-grade set, with outstanding eye-appeal across the board, of one of card collecting's most popular football issues. Total: 176 cards. SOLD FOR $1,320
