1906 Ullman Postcard Manager John McGraw

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,080

Presented is an extremely attractive 1906 Ullman Postcard example of Manager John McGraw. This set of postcards is noteworthy both for its exciting design and great rarity. Produced to commemorate the Giants’ 1905 Championship season, the set features Giants players exclusively. John McGraw, of course, is one of the key Hall of Famers in the set. The fronts feature black-and-white images surrounded by a wood-grain designed border. While the postcard is in technically modest grade (POOR 10 by SGC), as can easily be seen it presents extremely well, with a crisp image, even wear to the corners, and creasing along the left border and in the nameplate. The reverse has been postally used (postmarked August 7 in Albany, New York) but is otherwise clean. This is one of the all-time great McGraw cards, and the first example we have ever personally seen or offered. An outstanding sample of Hall of Famer John McGraw from this very rare issue, which would be a significant addition to any postcard, New York Giants, or prewar-card collection. SOLD FOR $1,080
