1965 Topps Football High-Grade Collection (44) Including #122 Joe Namath Rookie SGC NM+ 86 and Empty Display Box

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $4,200

Outstanding high-grade collection of forty-four cards from the 1965 Topps Football set, highlighted by an extremely impressive example of Joe Namath's rookie card (graded NM+ 86 by SGC, submitted by REA). This collection of cards has been carefully saved for decades by the original owner who personally removed them from packs! An empty display box also accompanies this collection (Excellent condition). One of the most popular and classic of all football-card sets, the 1965 Topps Football set is packed with Hall of Famers, rookies, and extremely tough-to-find short prints. This collection consists of the following: #9, 10, 12, 13, 15 SP, 18 SP, 21 SP, two 26 SP, 31 SP, 35 Kemp SP (Ex), 44, 48 SP, 66 SP, 71 SP, 72 SP, 74, 80 SP, 82 SP, 83 SP, 84, 86 SP, 98, 100 SP, 107 SP, 108 SP, 109 SP, 114 SP, 115 SP, 116 SP, 118 SP, 120, 122 Namath RC SP (NM+ 86), 123, 124 SP, 126, 128 SP, 131 SP, 149 SP, 154, 159 SP, 162 SP, 167, and 176 Checklist SP (Ex). Condition is 27% Nr/Mt, 39% Ex-Mt, and 34% Ex. Many cards appear far nicer than their technically accurate grades (almost exclusively downgraded due to centering, which is always a problem with this issue). The oversized design of the 1965 Topps Football set makes this issue particularly susceptible to damage. This is an exceptionally attractive high-grade collection, far above average for this issue, with many short prints and a particularly impressive Namath rookie, and tremendous eye-appeal across the board. The equivalent SMR value in the assigned grade for the Namath rookie is $2,650. Total: 44 cards. SOLD FOR $4,200
