1947 Ty Cobb Signed Photograph

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $593

Vintage news photo capturing Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, and Tris Speaker posing together, in 1947, at an Old Timers' Day event, signed by Cobb in green ink. The fabled "Georgia Peach" has inscribed the photo "To Danny/From/Ty," with both the inscription and signature grading "10." Our consignor originally purchased this photo at public auction many years ago, at which time the auction house described the piece as originating from the collection of Danny Goodman, who was a longtime baseball executive in Southern California. A copy of the original auction description accompanies. The photo (9 x 7 inches) has a heavy area of gray editorial shading to the right of Speaker's image. Also, the name Babe Ruth is ornately fashioned on a strip of cardboard that has been attached to the front of the photo. The original auction description also noted that there is a date stamp on the reverse reading "Oct 2, 1947." In apparent Excellent condition. Matted and framed together with a few modern-day Ty Cobb and Detroit Tigers souvenir pieces to total dimensions of 16 x 13 inches. Full LOA from PSA/DNA and LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $593
