1957 Topps Complete Set (407)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,963

Complete and exceptionally attractive mid-grade set of 1957 Topps cards. 11% Ex-Mt (with a few better), 51% Ex, 17% Vg-Ex, and 21% lesser (mostly Gd/Vg).1957 Topps has always been very popular due to its classic photographic style and inclusion of so many stars. This is a particularly sharp-looking complete set. Many of the lesser-graded cards are downgraded solely due to light wear at the corners but present with a crisp, high-grade appearance otherwise. Seven cards are graded and encapsulated by PSA. Keys: #1 T. Williams (Vg-Ex+), 2 Berra (Ex), 7 Aparicio (Ex), 10 Mays (Vg-Ex+), 15 Roberts (Vg-Ex), 18 Drysdale RC (Vg-Ex+), 20 Aaron (Vg-Ex+), 24 Mazeroski RC (Vg+), 25 Ford (Ex), 30 Reese (Vg-Ex+), 35 F. Robinson RC (Ex, off register), 38 Fox (Gd), 40 Wynn (Vg-Ex+), 55 Banks (Ex), 62 Martin (pencil on front, otherwise Ex), 70 Ashburn (Vg-Ex+), 76 Clemente (Gd+), 80 Hodges (Ex), 85 Doby (Vg+), 90 Spahn (Ex), 95 Mantle (VG-EX 4), 97 Yankees Team (writing on reverse, otherwise Ex), 125 Kaline (Ex), 165 Kluszewski (Vg-Ex), 170 Snider (Ex), 210 Campanella (Vg-Ex+), 212 Colavito RC (Ex), 250 Mathews (Fr), 286 Richardson RC (Vg-Ex+), 302 Koufax (EX 5), 312 Kubek RC (Vg-Ex), 324 Dodgers Team (Fr/Gd), 328 B. Robinson RC (Vg-Ex+), 338 Bunning RC (Ex), 400 Dodgers' Sluggers (Gd), and 407 Mantle/Berra (EX 5). The other graded cards are #101 (NM-MT 8), 138 (EX-MT+ 6.5), 148 (NM 7), and 309 (NM 7). This is the type of 1950s set that is always sought after as it represents such an outstanding collecting value compared to the cost of these cards in higher grade, while sacrificing little (or in some cases nothing!) in appearance. This is a very high quality, complete set of 1957 Topps, one of the most popular and classic of all baseball-card sets. Total: 407 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,963
