1950 Bowman Complete Set (252)

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,896

14% Vg-Ex (includes some Ex), 68% Vg, and 18% lesser (mostly Gd). Extremely presentable complete set of 1950 Bowman. We have selected two cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. Keys: #1 Parnell RC (Fr), 3 DiMaggio (Vg), 6 Feller (Vg+), 8 Kell (Vg), 11 Rizzuto (Gd+), 19 Spahn (Vg), 21 Reese (Pr), 22 Robinson (SGC VG 40), 23 Newcombe RC (Pr), 32 Roberts (Gd+), 33 Kiner (Vg), 35 Slaughter (Gd+), 37 Appling (Vg), 39 Doby (Vg+), 40 Lemon (Vg), 43 Doerr (Vg), 46 Berra (Pr), 58 Furillo (Gd+), 62 Kluszewski (Vg-Ex), 71 Schoendienst (Vg+), 75 Campanella (Gd/Vg), 77 Snider (Fr), 84 Ashburn (Vg), 94 Boudreau (Pr), 98 Williams (SGC VG+ 45), 112 Hodges (Vg+), 139 Mize (Vg), 148 Wynn (Vg), 217 Stengel (Ex), 219 Bauer (Vg), 220 Durocher (Vg), 229 Frisch (Vg). The 1950 Bowman set is often overlooked by collectors simply because it does not include a Mantle or Mays rookie, but this was a landmark set in its day, being the first postwar baseball issue to feature full-color artwork instead of photographs. We rarely have the opportunity to offer 1950 Bowman Baseball as a complete set, and over the years have consistently found it to be among the most elusive sets of the era. This is a very attractive complete set (with few exceptions), in extremely uniform condition, of this classic early Bowman issue. Total: 252 cards. Reserve $400. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,896
