1948 Leaf #79 Jackie Robinson Rookie

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $4,740

Graded EX 60 by SGC (submitted by REA). Presented is a very attractive mid-grade example of this classic rookie card of Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson. The 1948-1949 Leaf Bubble Gum card of Robinson is one of the most popular, striking, and classic of all Jackie Robinson cards. The offered example originates from an original-owner collection and displays a perfectly crisp image with flawless registration. The card displays four sharp corners with a touch of wear visible to the bottom left, centered very slightly towards the bottom, and light discoloration along the bottom border, which is almost entirely responsible for the grade despite a far superior appearance. The reverse is boldly printed and well centered. This is an exceptionally attractive example of one of the icons of postwar Hall of Fame card collecting, and in the eyes of many, Jackie Robinson's single most desirable baseball card. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $4,740
