1938 R323 Goudey "Heads-Up" #250 Joe DiMaggio

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,370

Graded EX 60 by SGC (submitted by REA). Exceptionally attractive example of #250 Joe DiMaggio, one of the key cards from the 1938 Goudey "Heads-Up" series. DiMaggio is not just the most valuable card in the set, it also one of the most well known and popular of all Joe DiMaggio cards, and of all 1930s bubble-gum cards. This example was part of an original-owner 1930s gum-card collection that is presented in a number lots throughout this auction. The card is crisp and clean, both front and back, with perfect registration, ideal natural toning, and perfect centering. The light, even wear to the four strong corners is entirely responsible for the Excellent grade despite otherwise having a far superior appearance. This is a very strong example of one of the key cards from the 1938 Goudey set and one of the most popular cards of the era. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $2,000. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $2,370
