1909-1911 T206 Southern Leaguer Collection (31)

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $2,963

Presented is a partial set of thirty-one of the forty-eight scare T206 Southern Leaguers. The Southern Leaguers have always been appreciated for their scarcity and as a popular subset to the T206 series. They have also always been listed at a significant premium in relation to regular cards in the set. Seventeen cards in this collection have Piedmont reverses, thirteen have Old Mill backs, and one has a Hindu advertising reverse. Condition: Sixteen are Vg (including two better) and fifteen are Fr to Gd. We have selected four cards to be graded by SGC. This collection consists of the following: Bastian - San Antonio, Bay - Nashville, Bernhard - Nashville, Breitenstein - New Orleans (Old Mill), Ellam - Nashville, Foster - Charleston, Fritz - New Orleans (Old Mill), Guiheen - Portsmouth (VG+ 45), B. Hart - Little Rock (Old Mill), J. Hart - Montgomery, Hickman - Mobile (Old Mill), Jordan - Atlanta (Hindu), Kiernan - Columbia (VG/EX+ 55, Old Mill), King - Danville (Old Mill), Lentz - Little Rock (Old Mill), Lipe - Richmond, Manion - Columbia, Miller - Dallas, Orth - Lynchburg, Persons - Montgomery, Reagan - New Orleans, Revelle - Richmond (Old Mill), Rockenfeld - Montgomery, Shaughnessy - Roanoke (GOOD 30), Smith - Atlanta (VG 40, Old Mill), Smith - Shreveport (Old Mill), Stark - San Antonio (Old Mill), Thebo - Waco, Thornton - Mobile (Old Mill), Westlake - Danville, and White - Houston. The scarcity of the Southern Leaguers has always made putting together a complete T206 set particularly difficult. This is a very attractive low- to mid-grade partial set of Southern Leaguers, with most cards having an appearance superior to their technically accurate grades. The equivalent SMR value for the four graded cards is $440. Total: 31 cards. Reserve $400. Estimate $800+. SOLD FOR $2,963
