Circa 1930s Walter Johnson Single-Signed Ball

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $5,332.50

Pennant brand "Dizzy Dean Official League Ball" signed by Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson. The legendary "Big Train" has scripted his name in black fountain pen on a side panel, with the signature grading "7." Walter Johnson single-signed balls are extremely rare. Of balls signed by any of the first five players inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame (the first class consists of Ruth, Cobb, Mathewson, Wagner, and Johnson), only Christy Mathewson single-signed balls are more elusive than those of Walter Johnson. The ball is moderately toned, with a few tiny abrasions, but all of the manufacturer's stampings remain bold. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $3,000+. SOLD FOR $5,332.50
