1888 N173 Goodwin Old Judge Cabinet Guy Hecker

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $2,370.00

N173 Old Judge cabinet card example of Guy Hecker (#220-5 pose) of the Louisville Colonels. This is a very attractive example with outstanding photo contrast overall. The background and area identifying the player name and team is very light (as made), making the identifying white-letter text and 1888 copyright difficult to read (due to the contrast of the white letters against the light background). This cabinet is in Vg-Ex condition, centered towards the top, with almost no visible wear to the corners, a perfectly mounted photo, and hint of light discoloration along the edges (common to this issue). The blank reverse is entirely clean, a departure from most nineteenth-century cards, which so often display writing, album residue, or paper loss. This is an outstanding sample in high-grade from one of the most revered and substantial of all nineteenth-century baseball-card issues. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $2,370.00
