1924 New York Giants National League Champions Team-Signed Ball - Nine Hall of Famers!

Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $1,659.00

Official National League (Heydler) ball signed in black fountain pen by the following twenty members of the National League Champion New York Giants: Youngs, Jennings (coach), Frisch, Kelly, Lindstrom, Terry, Jackson, Southworth, Wilson, Gowdy, Groh, McQuillan, Barnes, Hartley, Meusel, Bentley, Huntzinger, Nehf, Dean (sweet spot), and one other (illegible; sweet spot). The signatures of both Wilson and Lindstrom are extremely faded and barely visible even under close examination; otherwise, signatures range from "2" to "8," averaging "5/6." The Giants captured their fourth consecutive National League Championship (a franchise record) in 1924, with the year also marking the club's final pennant under John McGraw. Unfortunately McGraw was denied the fourth World Championship of his career as the Giants lost the World Series to the Washington Senators in seven games. Team-signed balls from the early 1920s are extremely rare and desirable, let alone those featuring the signatures of nine future Hall of Famers! The signature of Ross Youngs (which is the strongest signature on the ball) is particularly scarce. Youngs passed away prematurely in 1927 at the age of thirty, forty-five years before he was elected to the Hall of Fame. The ball displays moderate-to-heavy wear throughout, including a number of minor abrasions, but all of the manufacturer's labels remain clear and legible. In Very Good condition overall. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200.
