1933 R319 Goudey #35 Al Simmons PSA NM-MT 8

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,251.50

For more information about the assembly and the condition of the PSA-graded complete 1933 Goudey set that is consigned to this auction (of which this is a part) and which has been broken down into 110 smaller lots, please visit this link which provides the introduction to the set that appears in the printed catalog:

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Out of 327 examples of 1933 Goudey #35 Al Simmons graded by PSA to date, only twenty-one have been graded at this level, and only four have ever been graded higher. Hall of Famer Al Simmons is featured in a batting pose with vibrant colors with flawless registration. Centered very slightly to the left. Clean, boldly printed reverse. Simmons was one of the best hitting outfielders in baseball for more than a decade and drove in at least 100 runs in each of his first eleven seasons in the majors. He finished his career with a lifetime batting average of .334. This is a very high-grade PSA example of this low-number card from the popular 1933 Goudey series that would be a significant addition to virtually any 1933 Goudey PSA Registry set or Hall of Fame collection. SMR is $2,450. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,500+.
