1933 R319 Goudey #207 Mel Ott PSA NM-MT 8

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $3,851.25

For more information about the assembly and the condition of the PSA-graded complete 1933 Goudey set that is consigned to this auction (of which this is a part) and which has been broken down into 110 smaller lots, please visit this link which provides the introduction to the set that appears in the printed catalog:

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. A rarely seen PSA NM-MT 8 example of #207 Mel Ott, New York Giants Hall of Famer, from the 1933 Goudey set. Of the 409 examples graded by PSA to date, this is one of only eleven cards graded at this level with just one higher. Ott was known as a power hitter and noted for his dominance in almost every hitting category, leading his team in home runs for eighteen straight years and becoming the first National Leaguer to hit 500 career home runs. This popular card features a crisp image of Ott in a batting pose set against a bold, red background. Near-flawless registration, centered slightly to the right, with some light print speckling on the front mentioned for the sake of accuracy. Clean, boldly printed reverse with some background color bleed/wet sheet transfer visible. A very attractive, extremely high-grade PSA example that would be a significant addition to virtually any 1933 Goudey PSA Registry set or Hall of Fame collection. SMR is $3,000. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,851.25
