For more information about the assembly and the condition of the PSA-graded complete 1933 Goudey set that is consigned to this auction (of which this is a part) and which has been broken down into 110 smaller lots, please visit this link which provides the introduction to the set that appears in the printed catalog:

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Highest-graded example! Of the 476 examples graded to date, this is one of only fourteen 1933 Goudey #29 Jimmy Foxx cards graded at this level, with none graded higher. This is an exceptional card with particularly bright colors, including a sharp yellow background. Centered slightly to the left. Four strong corners with just hints of minor wear visible under magnification, flawless registration, and off-white borders. The card is extremely crisp and clean, both front and back. This is a rare card to find in such exceptional high grade in part because it is from the condition-sensitive low-number series of 1933 Goudey. An imposing physical specimen with bulging muscles, Jimmie Foxx was more than just a slugger. In his prime, he challenged Babe Ruth's single-season home-run record, won three MVP awards, and the Triple Crown. He won two World Series titles with Connie Mack's Athletics, and retired as the second leading home-run hitter of all time, with 534 homers. Issued at the height of Foxx's career. The first line of the text on the back of this card reads "The player who’s giving Babe Ruth a battle for the title of Home Run King." Also included is a reference to Foxx's 58 home runs during the 1932 season. One of the key cards from the 1933 Goudey set, this is an rarely seen ultra high-grade PSA example of one of the most popular and classic Hall of Fame cards within this set. SMR is $10,000. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000++. SOLD FOR $16,590.00
