1968 Topps Complete Set (598)

Starting Bid - $800.00, Sold For - $5,332.50

70% range from Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (averaging Nr/Mt), 20% Vg-Ex to Ex, 10% Vg with a few lesser. Highlighted by the rookie cards of HOFers Nolan Ryan and Johnny Bench, the 1968 Topps set also includes the extremely popular “combo” cards featuring more than one player, with #480 Superstars (with Roberto Clemente), #490 Superstars (Harmon Killebrew, Mickey Mantle, and Willie Mays), and #530 Bird Belters (Frank and Brooks Robinson). Eight cards have been graded and encapsulated by SGC (all submitted by REA). Keys: #20 B. Robinson (Nr/Mt-Mt), 45 Seaver (SGC EX 60), 50 Mays (SGC NM+ 86), 80 Carew (Nr/Mt-Mt), 100 Gibson (Nr/Mt-Mt), 110 Aaron (SGC NM 84), 145 Drysdale (90/10 T/B, otherwise Nr/Mt-Mt), 150 Clemente (Ex-Mt), 177 Ryan RC (SGC NM 84), 220 Killebrew (Nr/Mt), 230 Rose (SGC EX+ 70), 240 Kaline (90/10 T/B & L/R, otherwise Nr/Mt), 247 Bench RC (SGC MINT 96), 250 Yastrzemski (90/10 T/B & L/R, otherwise Nr/Mt), 280 Mantle (SGC NM 84), 330 Maris (Nr/Mt+), 355 Banks (Nr/Mt-Mt), 408 Carlton (90/10 L/R, otherwise Nr/Mt), 480 Manager's Dream (Ex-Mt), 490 Superstars (SGC NM/MT+ 92), 500 F. Robinson (Nr/Mt-Mt), 520 Brock (Nr/Mt), 528 Tigers (Ex-Mt), 530 Bird Belters (Ex), and 575 Palmer (85/15 L/R, otherwise Nr/Mt). Very sharp, clean, crisp overall Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt set with the usual number of mostly minor centering problems. This is a very sharp-looking set. The SMR value on just the eight graded cards (without taking into account the half-grades for which SMR value is not available and without including the 590 ungraded cards!) is $2,073. Total: 598 cards. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500+. SOLD FOR $5,332.50
