Graded EX+ 70 by SGC. Stunning high-grade example of Brooklyn's pitcher Bob Caruthers from the colorful N162 Goodwin Champions set. Caruthers is one of eight baseball players from this very popular fifty-card set issued by Old Judge and Gypsy Queen Cigarettes. The set features champions and stars of the day from a wide variety of sports. This extremely attractive high-grade example is beautifully centered, with bright, flawless colors, no creases, and with just a hint of light corner wear (a little more wear in the lower corners). N162 Goodwin Champions are considered by many to be the most beautiful of all nineteenth-century tobacco cards. This is a very striking sample card in a very high grade. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
