1955 Topps Complete Set (206)

Starting Bid - $2,000.00, Sold For - $10,665.00

16% Nr/Mt, 36% Ex+ to Ex-Mt, and 48% Ex (almost entirely due to centering) with a few lesser. This is an extremely attractive high-grade complete set of the classic 1955 Topps issue, which appears even stronger than its impressive technically accurate grading range (Ex to Nr/Mt) and includes many particularly strong highlights, including an extremely strong example of key card #164 Roberto Clemente (SGC EX-MT+ 82). Highlighted by the rookie cards of Sandy Koufax and Roberto Clemente, the 1955 Topps also includes many additional key star cards, including Ted Williams and Willie Mays. We have selected six cards to be graded by SGC. Keys: #1 Rhodes (Ex-Mt), 2 Williams (EX 60), 4 Kaline (Ex-Mt), 24 Newhouser (Ex), 28 Banks (Ex+), 31 Spahn (Ex+), 47 Aaron (NM+ 86), 50 Robinson (NM+ 86), 70 Rosen (Ex-Mt+), 100 Irvin (Vg-Ex), 120 Kluszewski (Nr/Mt+), 123 Koufax RC (EX+ 70), 124 Killebrew RC (EX 60), 125 Boyer (Nr/Mt), 152 Agganis RC (Nr/Mt), 155 Mathews (Ex), 164 Clemente RC (EX-MT+ 82), 187 Hodges (Ex), 189 Rizzuto (Ex), 194 Mays (no bottom border, otherwise Ex-Mt), 198 Berra (Ex), and 210 Snider (Ex). This is a very strong set, crisp and sharp throughout, with bright, bold colors. This set was built many years ago when there was less of an emphasis on centering than there was on sharp corners. Stunning complete sets of classic issues from the 1950s such as this always generate tremendous collector interest. This is the type of vintage set that to many collectors represents the very best value. The equivalent SMR value for just the six graded cards (factoring the Koufax and Clemente half-grades in at the lower whole-grade level) is $3,035. Total: 208 cards (complete set plus two duplicates). Reserve $2,000. Estimate $3,000++. SOLD FOR $10,665.00
