1954 Topps Complete Set (250)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $4,740.00

16% Nr/Mt, 33% Ex-Mt, and 51% Ex with approximately one dozen lesser. The 1954 Topps set has always been one of the most popular sets of the 1950s. Issued in the heart of the decade, the 1954 Topps set features the rookie cards of Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, and Al Kaline, among many other Hall of Famers and stars, including two examples of Ted Williams (first and last card in the set), all in brilliant and stunning color. Presented is a very attractive set consigned to this auction by the original owner. We have selected six cards to be graded by PSA. Keys: #1 Williams (Vg+), 3 Irvin (Vg-Ex), 7 Kluszewski (Nr/Mt), 10 Robinson (EX-MT 6), 13 Martin (Ex+), 17 Rizzuto (Ex), 20 Spahn (Ex), 30 Mathews (Nr/Mt), 32 Snider (Ex), 36 Wilhelm (Nr/Mt), 37 Ford (Ex-Mt), 45 Ashburn (Ex), 50 Berra (Ex), 70 Doby (Ex), 90 Mays (EX 5), 94 Banks RC (VG-EX 4 MC), 102 Hodges (Ex-Mt), 128 Aaron (Authentic, deemed evidence of trimming by PSA), 132 Lasorda RC (Ex+), 201 Kaline (EX+ 5.5), 239 Skowron RC (Ex+), and 250 Williams (EX 5). This is a very attractive and with few exceptions extremely consistent complete set of this early 1950s classic, with tremendous eye-appeal throughout. Technically the set falls into the "very strong medium" grade category, but each card displays with exceptional color and eye-appeal. Early sets in this grade are especially desirable, and are among the most outstanding and least volatile values in the world of vintage cards. The SMR value for just four of the graded cards (excluding the two key rookies graded less than EX 5 and the 244 ungraded cards!) is $890. Total: 250 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $4,740.00
