1953 Bowman Color Complete Set (160)

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $3,851.25

22% Ex-Mt, 56% Ex, and 22% Vg-Ex including a few lesser. Beautifully assembled complete set of 1953 Bowman Color. The set has been very carefully assembled, is virtually crease-free, and even the lower-graded cards are very attractive examples downgraded only due to a hint too much honest corner wear. Six cards are professionally graded (two by PSA, which were consigned with the set, and four by SGC, which were submitted by REA). Keys: #1 Williams (Ex), 9 Rizzuto (Ex), 10 Ashburn (Vg-Ex+), 18 Fox (Ex), 32 Musial (PSA EX+ 5.5), 33 Reese (SGC EX 60), 44 Bauer/Berra/Mantle (SGC EX/NM 80), 46 Campanella (SGC EX+ 70), 59 Mantle (PSA VG-EX 4), 65 Roberts (Vg-Ex), 80 Kiner (Vg-Ex+), 81 Slaughter (Ex+), 92 Hodges (Ex), 93 Rizzuto/Martin (Vg-Ex+), 97 Mathews (SGC EX 60), 99 Spahn (Vg-Ex), 101 Schoendienst (Ex-Mt), 114 Feller (Ex), 117 Snider (Vg), 118 Martin (Ex+), 121 Berra (Vg-Ex), 143 Lopez (Vg-Ex), 146 Wynn (Ex), 153 Ford (Vg-Ex), and 160 Abrams (Vg-Ex+). This is an extremely attractive complete set of this classic 1950s gum-card issue in an impressive high-quality grade representing an outstanding value compared to a higher-graded set, but without sacrificing exceptional visual appeal. The equivalent SMR value for just five of the graded cards (excluding the PSA VG-EX 4 #59 Mantle and the 154 ungraded cards!) is $1,380. Total: 160 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000++.
