1933 to 1968 Baseball and Football Hall of Fame Collection (22) Including Willie Mays Rookie Card

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,258.75

Presented are twenty-two baseball and football cards spanning the years 1933 to 1968 featuring exclusively Hall of Fame players, highlighted by a 1935 National Chicle Knute Rockne, 1941 Play Ball Joe DiMaggio, 1948 Leaf Babe Ruth, and 1951 Bowman Willie Mays rookie card. Each card in this lot is significant and is one of the key cards within its respective set. This collection of Hall of Famers varies in condition and was assembled long ago, obviously with great thought and care. They have been saved together for decades by our consignor's family, and are being offered together here as a collection. We have selected two cards to be graded by SGC. Baseball: 1) 1941 Play Ball #71 DiMaggio (ink on bottom edge, front and back, otherwise Fr/Gd). 2-3) 1948 Leaf #3 Ruth (Pr) and 70 Wagner (Pr). 4-7) 1951 Bowman #1 Ford RC (Vg), 31 Campanella (Gd), 198 Irvin RC (Ex), and 305 Mays RC (SGC EX 60). 8) 1952 Topps Look 'N See #15 Ruth (Ex). 9) 1952 Topps Scoops #41 Ruth (Vg-Ex+). 10) 1954 Topps #201 Kaline RC (Pr/Fr). 11) 1956 Topps #20 Kaline (Vg-Ex). 12) 1960 Fleer #3 Ruth (Ex+). 13) 1961-1962 Fleer #75 Ruth (Ex-Mt). 14) 1962 Topps #199 Perry RC (Ex). 15) 1967 Topps #250 Aaron (Ex). 16) 1968 Topps #110 Aaron (Nr/Mt). Football: 17-18) 1933 Sport Kings #4 Grange (SGC VG/EX+ 55) and 6 Thorpe (presents Vg-Ex, but Pr due to extra album paper on reverse). 19-20) 1935 National Chicle #9 Rockne (Pr/Fr) and 10 Battles RC (Pr). 21) 1948 Leaf #4 Walker RC (Gd/Vg). 22) 1949 Leaf #41 McAfee (Pr). This is a very appealing collection of classic cards, featuring some of the biggest stars of the game and including some of the great classics of card collecting, in a relatively affordable condition compared to higher-graded examples. The equivalent SMR value for just the Willie Mays rookie card is $1,125. Total: 22 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $3,258.75
