1933 R319 Goudey #144 Babe Ruth

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $2,666.25

Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. Very attractive low-grade example of one of Babe Ruth's most classic cards, #144 from the 1933 Goudey series featuring the Babe in his classic follow-through batting pose. We especially like to offer the most classic cards like this one in lower grades to show collectors that it is very possible (though it sometimes takes great patience) to acquire extremely attractive vintage-card classics on a relatively modest budget. The "batting" pose of Babe Ruth in the 1933 Goudey set continues to be one of his most popular and recognizable baseball cards. This is a very attractive example, bright and crisp, with even wear to the corners and virtually perfect registration. This card has been downgraded by SGC for several light creases across the center. The back is fairly clean with bold green print set against an off-white background. In our opinion, this card grades VG. This is a very presentable technically modest-in-grade example of one of Babe Ruth's most classic cards from the popular 1933 Goudey Gum series, potentially representing an extraordinary collector value. The equivalent SMR value is $1,100. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000.
