1933 R319 Goudey #181 Babe Ruth PSA NM+ 7.5

Starting Bid - $2,500.00, Sold For - $10,072.50

Graded NM+ 7.5 by PSA. Extraordinary high-grade example of one of Babe Ruth's most popular cards, #181 Ruth with green background from the 1933 Goudey series. This card is gorgeous! It has all the attributes of a strong PSA NM-MT 8 example but appears to have been graded a bit more conservatively due to its being centered slightly to the right. The card has four razor-sharp corners, perfect printing registration (which can sometimes be a problem with this card), flawless colors, white borders, and just an insignificant print mark in the green background to the right of Ruth's image. It is perfectly crisp and clean, both front and back, with an extremely bold, flawlessly printed reverse. The image on this card is particularly strong and really "jumps"! Universally recognized as one of card collecting's all-time classics. This is a magnificent ultra high-grade example of one Babe Ruth's most important and highly prized baseball cards. This card originally appeared as lot #484 in REA's 2012 auction (where it sold for $8,888) and has been consigned (along with many other items in a collection reorganization) directly by the buyer at that sale. This is tremendous high-grade example of one of Babe Ruth's most classic cards. The SMR value for the assigned grade is $9,000. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000++. SOLD FOR $10,072.50
