1928 Zeenut PCL Near-Complete Set (162/168) Including Lombardi Rookie

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,666.25

Near-complete set of 1928 Zeenut cards featuring Pacific Coast League players including 162 of the 168 different, highlighted by the rookie card of Hall of Famer Ernie Lombardi. The 1928 Zeenut set is comprised of players from eight different teams (Hollywood, Los Angeles, Mission, Oakland, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Seattle). A near-complete or complete set such as this is very rarely seen. The cards in this collection grade 13% Vg or better, 12% Gd, 45% Fr, and 30% Pr or Authentic. Also included are four duplicates. Keys: Ernie Lombardi rookie card (Fr) and Reese (Pr). As is usually the case with Zeenuts, the coupon at the bottom of each card has been clipped away, as intended, to be redeemed for valuable prizes. Several cards have been downgraded due to writing on the reverse, which "comes with the territory" with Zeenuts. Missing only Averill, Cohen, Crosetti, Davis, Plitt, and Twombly for completion. This 1928 Zeenut near-complete set is part of a comprehensive Zeenut collection that has been broken down by year into a number of smaller but still very substantial lots. Total: 166 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,666.25
