1927 Zeenut PCL Near-Complete Set (138/144) Including Averill and O'Doul

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,666.25

Near-complete set of 138 of the 144 different 1927 Zeenut cards featuring Pacific Coast League players, highlighted by Hall of Famer Earl Averill as well as PCL star Lefty O'Doul. The 1927 Zeenut set is comprised of players from eight different teams (Hollywood, Los Angeles, Mission, Oakland, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Seattle). A near-complete set such as this is very rarely offered. 22% grade Vg or better, 15% Gd, 38% Fr, and 25% Pr with some Authentic. Several of the "Fair" cards present nicer but have been downgraded due to writing on the reverse, which "comes with the territory" with Zeenuts. Also included are five duplicates. Keys: Earl Averill (Vg-Ex), O'Doul (hand-cut top left corner, otherwise Vg), Prothro (Fr), and two Reese (Gd, with Ex front but uneven cutting near coupon area, and Fr). As is usually the case with Zeenuts, the coupon at the bottom of each card has been neatly clipped away (with the exception of one card), as intended, to be redeemed for valuable prizes. Missing only Agnew, Ballenger, Hooper, Lary, Rodda, and Weinert for completion. This 1927 Zeenut near-complete set is part of a comprehensive Zeenut collection that has been broken down by year into a number of smaller but still very substantial lots. Total: 143 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,666.25
