1921-1925 Exhibits Hall of Fame Collection (10) Including Two Babe Ruth

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,251.50

Collection of ten different Exhibit cards comprised exclusively of Hall of Famers, from six different Exhibit card issues, spanning the years of 1921 to 1925. Interestingly, this is an original "childhood" collection, assembled in the 1920s and saved in the family of the original owner! 1) 1921 Exhibits (2 cards): Bancroft (Vg) and Ruth (Gd). Ruth is the key card from this set and one of his earliest cards featuring him with the Yankees. The card is bright and crisp, with outstanding picture quality. Blank reverse. Considered by many collectors to one of Ruth’s most classic cards. 2) 1922 Exhibits (1 card): Youngs (Fr). 3) 1925 Champions Exhibit-Style Card: Babe Ruth (Gd). Extremely rare Exhibit-style card features Babe Ruth in a follow-through swing. This striking card was one in a series of thirty-two cards featuring the top athletes of the day, with a different athlete representing each sport. Babe Ruth was chosen to represent baseball, and he is the only ball player in the set. A small white box in the lower left corner has the printed notation “Babe Ruth [U.S.A.] World’s Champion Baseball Player.” Blank reverse. One of Babe Ruth’s rarest Exhibit cards and one of only several examples we have ever seen. This special and very distinctive looking Ruth card has received very little attention, in large part simply because of its great rarity. 4) 1925 Exhibits (2 cards): Hartnett (Vg) and Roush (Fr). 5) 1925-1931 Postcard-Back Exhibits (3 cards): Hornsby (Gd-Vg), Klein (Gd), and Traynor (Gd). 6) 1926 Exhibits (1 card): Lindstrom (Vg). This is an impressive small group of Hall of Famer Exhibit cards, including two cards featuring the legendary Babe Ruth. Total: 10 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $2,251.50
