1911 M116 Sporting Life SGC NM 84 Pair: Eddie Cicotte and Connie Mack

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,540.50

Pair of high-grade M116 Sporting Life cards graded and encapsulated by SGC (submitted by REA). Each card is the highest-graded example listed on the SGC Population Report: Eddie Cicotte ("Black Sox," well centered with only a hint of wear to the lower right corner) and Connie Mack (HOF, centered slightly to the bottom with near perfect corners and a small chip along the right border). Both cards are crisp gems, miraculously preserved, looking today exactly as they did when issued in 1911. Many collectors consider M116 to represent one of the era's most exceptional values. In terms of the number of players featured, M116 is the second most substantial set of the 1910 era featuring Major Leaguers, trailing only T206. Despite being so similar in design to their T206 counterparts, M116s in general are actually far rarer, though price guides assign them a lower value. SMR value is $1,550. Total: 2 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,540.50
