1909-1928 Ty Cobb Exhibits and Postcard Collection Including Max Stein (3)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,555.00

Collection of three different Ty Cobb postcard and Exhibit issues spanning Cobb's entire playing career, two featuring him as a member of the Detroit Tigers and one with the Philadelphia Athletics. Included are the following: 1) 1909-1916 PC758 Max Stein Postcard: SGC EX 60. Highest-graded example by either SGC or PSA. Excellent image, even corner wear, and clean reverse. This is an exceptionally desirable Ty Cobb card. 2) 1921 Exhibit Supply Company: Good. Well-centered, crease in lower left corner, clean reverse. 3) 1927-1928 Postcard-Back Exhibit Supply Company: Vg. Crease-free, minimal corner wear heaviest in lower right, light soiling on reverse. Extremely attractive group of key cards featuring legendary Hall of Famer Ty Cobb including a highest-graded example from the rare and highly regarded PC758 Max Stein Postcard set. Interesting note: the Max Stein postcard could easily be its own lot, but these three cards were purchased as a trio by our consignor at auction in 1998, and he thought they should be kept together when resold. (For the record, in 1998 he paid $750.) Total: 3 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $3,555.00
