1909-1911 T206 Ty Cobb - Green Background

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,370.00

Graded VG 40 by SGC. The T206 portrait of Ty Cobb set against a deep green background has long been considered the rarest of the four poses of Cobb in the T206 set. It is one of the most recognizable and popular of all vintage baseball cards. Presented is a bright, crisp, clean VG example, with light, even corner wear (predominately the upper left), perfect registration, and centered slightly to the left. The card was downgraded from Excellent by SGC solely due to two very light creases at the top border. The Sweet Caporal ad on the reverse is centered and very clean. This example illustrates that even today a collector, with patience, can still obtain many of the most noteworthy cards cards in outstanding condition on a relatively modest budget. The equivalent SMR value in VG is $1,500. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+.
