1909-1911 T206 White Border Collection (5) Including Cobb, Johnson, and Young

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,962.50

Collection of five different T206 White Border tobacco cards, highlighted by Hall of Famers Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, and Cy Young. These five cards were the only tobacco-era cards that happened to be included in a larger collection and are therefore naturally being offered together. Most of the value, of course, is represented by three of the five cards. The three key star cards have been graded and encapsulated by SGC (all submitted by REA). 1) Cobb/bat off (SGC FAIR 20). Bright color and striking image with two minor creases and small areas of paper loss on the reverse. 2) Johnson/hands at chest (SGC VG/EX 50, Tolstoi). Bright color and minor rounding to corners. 3) Young/port. (SGC EX 60). Bright color with minimal corner wear. Clean reverse. 4) Oberlin (Fr, Old Mill). 5) Schlei/Batting (Gd). The SMR value of the three graded cards exceeds $2,975. Total: 5 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,962.50
