1909-1911 T206 White Borders Collection Including Three Ty Cobbs (121)

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $5,332.50

Collection of ninety-six different (plus twenty-five duplicates, for a total of 121 cards) T206 White Border cards in mostly low grade, including twenty-three Hall of Famers, highlighted by three Ty Cobbs (all red background pose). Three cards are graded and encapsulated by SGC. Highlights: two Baker (Fr and Pr), Bastian (Southern Leaguer, Pr), Beckley (Pr), two Bender/no trees (Gd and Fr), Chance/bat (Fr), two Chance/yellow (Fr and Pr), Chase/blue (Fr), three Chase/dark cap (Gd+, Gd, and Fr), three Cobb/red (two SGC GOOD 30 and SGC POOR 10 with Polar Bear back), Doyle/N.Y., hands above head (Pr, Tolstoi back), two Duffy (Gd and Fr), Evers/Chicago (Pr), three Griffith/batting (Vg and two Fr), Johnson/pitching (Gd), two Mathewson/dark cap (Gd and Pr), two McGinnity (both Fr), Stark (Southern Leaguer, Pr), and Tinker/bat off (Fr). The balance of the cards in this collection grade as follows: 77% Fair to Good with a few better and 23% Poor. Backs are mostly Piedmont and Sweet Caporal, but also included are several Polar Bear and two Tolstoi. Tobacco cards in this condition represent perhaps the best value among all vintage baseball cards. This is a great original-owner collection of classic T206 tobacco cards, totally unpicked and including a particularly high concentration of Hall of Famers (twenty-three Hall of Famers, including three Ty Cobbs). The equivalent SMR value for the just the three SGC-graded cards (not including the 118 ungraded cards) is $1,400. Total: 121 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $5,332.50
