1909-1911 T206 Sherry Magie - Error

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $5,628.75

Graded PR-FR 1 by PSA. A very presentable and relatively affordable low-grade example of the famous T206 Magie error card. This is one of the rarest cards in the set, and is usually one of the last cards required by collectors to complete the T206 set. This card has been always recognized as one of the great rarities, since the days of Jefferson Burdick. (In fact, Burdick singled out the Magie as one of the significant T206 rarities in the original American Card Catalog.) The offered card displays a crisp image, bold colors, and light wrinkling. It is centered towards the bottom and free of heavy creasing most often encountered in low-grade examples. The corners show light, even wear, and two small surface chips are visible on the left ear and eyebrow. The Piedmont reverse shows evidence of removal from an album with paper loss affecting approximately one-quarter of the back. The card still has superb overall eye-appeal. This is an extremely pleasing low-grade, and therefore relatively affordable, example of one of card collecting's most significant rarities. SMR value is $5,900. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500++. SOLD FOR $5,628.75
