1919 First Edition of Commy with Rare Dust Jacket

Starting Bid - $100.00, Sold For - $296.25

First edition of Commy by G. W. Axelson. Published by The Reilly & Lee Co., Chicago, 1919. Hard bound with red cloth-covered boards. The book's full title is "Commy" The Life Story of Charles A. Comiskey - The "Grand Old Roman" of Baseball and for Nineteen Years President and Owner of the American League Baseball Team "The White Sox." While this is an important early baseball biography, the offered example is especially noteworthy for the fact that includes the exceedingly rare original dust jacket, which features the identical photo of Charles Comiskey on the front and reverse. The 320-page book (5.5 x 8 inches) is tightly bound, with both covers displaying only light wear. A former bookseller's price, written in pencil, appears on the front flyleaf. In Excellent condition overall. The dust jacket displays a number of small edge tears (with paper loss) and a small tear along the spine. In Very Good condition overall. Reserve $100. Estimate $200+.
